bmweerman
This morning went pretty well. Despite my early leave from his room, I still stayed up past midnight, and thus didn't get in to see him until after 10:00. ( I need to do differently tonight as I need to speak with his doctors and they come by usually around 6:30 or so.) They had removed his feeding tube and were letting him work on ice chips, to make sure he was swallowing OK. His color was much better and he seemed in better spirits. I was then informed that they had discontinued the sedatives, as well, but it would take about 24 hours for them to be out of his system. That explained the clearer eyes and his improved communication. Even his writing was getting more intelligible. He's still on the morphine and antibiotics. The infection is taking its time leaving his lungs, but it is on the move. I stayed about 2 hours, that's what I'm trying to limit myself to at a time. If you saw the pics, I posted them on my blog at: http://people.bakersfield.com/home/Blog/camsgirl/10005 , then you'll know what I've been up to during the middle of the day. Tomorrow, I'm thinking about driving to Durango. It's about 45mins to an hour from here and everyone says I should check it out. It's supposed to be a very scenic drive if I take the road less traveled to get there. When I returned after my outing, he was more alert, but in more pain. He was a little moody and actually told me to leave after a couple of hours because he was feeling aggitated. I asked if it was due to my presence and he said no. Of course that little illogical voice in my head is pushing the guilt button. I've been arguing with it about that for a little while now. I know it's just him coming out of the sedatives, as well as that psychosis kicking in, as it was getting dark outside. He had handled the jello quite well today and as I left, I saw some broth and some other substance sitting on the nurses counter next to his chart. Maybe he'll get some more good stuff tonight. What I do depends on what info I get from the doctor. I have alot to take care of before I leave here, the biggest is trying to arrange some muscle to get the bike into the back of the pickup. Or maybe there's another way, I'm not sure how to work it out-I'm open to suggestions. I also need to work things out with the insurance co. as I don't think the adjuster has been out yet. I emailed my agent this evening to get her input on how to work this out. This is all uncharted ground for me, but come to think of it, this whole ordeal has been something I've never experienced before and don't intend to ever repeat. Once I know when and where Cameron is going I can formulate some sort of time line to get this all done. Thankfully, the social worker I've been working with, at the hospital, is great at getting all the ducks in a row for Cameron's needs. I'll be speaking with him once I get the word from the doctor. He's the guy who'll arrange the transport, the rehab. facility (probably Health South), and all the connections required to get from point A to B. He'll be in good hands when he gets there so I can focus on getting good ol' Black back home. So, we'll see what everyone says tomorrow. I'm going to turn in so I'm not a zombie come morning. Patti, if you go to anylocal motorcycle shop and tell them the situation, my guess is that they will be happy to help you with getting the bike into the pickup. Link to comment
Dances_With_Wiener_Dogs
That's a good thought John. I googled and found this helpful webpage.
