Alternatives to Givi E183 topcase rack for Monokey luggage?

Hi all,

 

Just picked up a 2001 BMW R1100RT and I've already bought a used Givi E52 for it. Before I drop $80 on the E183 adapter, I was curious if there was another aftermarket alternative that was cheaper, better, and/or more versatile.

 

I know SW-Motech has their Alu Rack, but I can't seem to find one for the R1100 RT.

 

I tried searching, but couldn't find this topic.

This is what I want to know too. There is a used e46/e460 for sale that comes with the standard mounting plate.

 

Will the standard plate not work on the oem r1100rt luggage rack? With easy modification?

according to the givi site, the r1100rt and '01 r1150rt use the E183 mounting plate. '02-'04 r1150rt's use the E191.

 

the mounting plate replaces the stock bmw rear case holder, and ends up looking like this when you don't have the case on.

 

 

edit: I just noticed mine is a E183 and I have it on my '02 RT.
