rabbibgr
"Retired at last" came down to CLT. On the way he noticed a burning smell and increased play in the clutch lever. I adjusted the freeplay, but the freeplay continued to increase. Checked the cables and locknuts and they are OK. any suggestions ? If he has to rent a truck and drive the bike home, what would be best ? Link to comment
smiller
Is this in reference to an oilhead? The burning smell could have just been from a misadjusted clutch, but the rapidly-changing setting is a concern. If it's still doing this and the adjustment changes are significant then I would probably think twice about riding it too far. You can pull the starter and get a decent view of the clutch thickness. steptoe
Would help to know what bike it is - sounds like a thrust piston/bearing problem. Link to comment
