davie
Hi when I start my bike from cold my engine is fine after about 20sec there is a knock at idle from the left hand side it lasts for about a minute. I have adjusted the rocker arm play and fitted the new cam chain tensioner.any other ideas my bike is a 03 R1150RT with only 14000 miles. Davie Link to comment
Ken H.
It's the cam chain slapping until its tensioner pressurizes. There is an update tensioner that solves it, but is really only an annoyance issue. Doesn't hurt anything. Link to comment
davie
That is the updated tensioner thats been fitted to it. Davie Link to comment
steptoe
Maybe, only maybe, it could be the pushrods. The ends become loose, and can knock until they get some heat - BMW have since changed the design . Old design, showing the problem Old design, with new design alongside Link to comment
