Whip
Getting out of Texas always takes a long time. The wild flowers never looked better. After stayin in Dalhart Texas for the night we got an early start for Colorado Springs to meet Kaneman and Scott. I have issues with New Mexico...... the speed limit on this road was 45mph....and the LEOs were out in full force....the Escort went off every 5 minutes followed by a patrol car ......for 100 miles. After meeting up with the "Kaneman" and sidekick "Scott" we headed west on CO 24 While Sean and Mitch were climbin Pikes Peak we were takin pix from a distance. Kaneman's first look at the Rockies. Scott at our first Pass. Next Stop After a nice ride we ended up getting delayed at some road construction...only 4 miles from our destination. It felt like an hour, but I'm sure it was closer to 20 minutes. In the morning things cleared up and Telluride never looked better. We decided to try and get a closer look at the falls. After some debate we went back and got geared up for the assult. Closer and closer.... Once the road turned to water it was time to turn around. The view from the top was worth it. You'd think the man had never seen snow before. Melting snow and gravity....a beautiful sight. BTW...somewhere during the decent I fell over tryin to avoid a dog and his owners.....not even my pride was hurt. We will be in Torrey tomorrow for dinner. We're gonna miss the Putzes... Whip, Mrs Whip, and Kaneman. Link to comment

Kaneman
There were other sights, and since I'm a big ol'camera hog... All that dirt riding was really making Whip thirsty... Watch out for the edge buddy, its a loooong way down. I'll leave you with a classic Whip shot...most of us have seen this pose that know the man I think. Link to comment
Firefight911
I'll leave you with a classic Whip shot...most of us have seen this pose that know the man I think. Be careful!!! That's his famous, "I miss Jay" pose!! Or is it the, "I need more Oban" pose, or maybe the, "Hey, let's watch 'Long Way Round' with some Oban while Jay lays on my lap" pose. Choices!!! Josh, you're doing a great thing with your "little ride." Keep it up and remember that your room is ready for you here in Northern California whenever you need it!! Link to comment

We are at the Wonderland Inn in rooms 2 and 3. Let's hook up for dinner tonight. We are headed for Bryce Canyon this morning but will be back in time for dinner so let's plan on having dinner together. Todd and Real. Cheers! Link to comment

Which road is this? I'm looking to head out to NM at some point, and it would probably be a good idea to flag this road on my mapping software as a potential "problem" road. Link to comment

Carnadero
I'm guessing it is 87/64. If so, 45 mph is painful. Looks like the OP will have to confirm your guess. Using Google Earth, I can't see any section of that road that looks to be a divided highway as seemingly indicated in the image, and the resolution of most of the satellite imagery along that stretch isn't very good. creekstone
I'll be riding it tomorrow night. It is a major corridor for Texans traveling to/from Colorado. Lots of carnage over the years. I don't understand why they would reduce the speed limit after converting it to a divided two-lane highway. Oh well, guess I need to build in a bit more time for my trip. Link to comment
