jackhett
Just changed the oil on my new 12RT for the first time. Saw the little metal gasket taped to the oil filter box. Couldn't find any place it would fit into the filter assembly Guess you know what I found in my drain oil. Goes on the drain plug, right? As you can tell, recently back to riding after a many year lay off. Things are different now, I guess. Thanks for your help. Link to comment

TEWKS
It's never happened to me but, i've heard of the rubber gasket on the old oil filter sticking to the engine. So check that along with the crush washer on your next oil change. Pat Link to comment
jackhett
At least I knew enough to check the rubber gasket on the filter. Thanks for your help. Leaving Saturday from the "tip of Michigan's thumb" to ride the whole Blue Ridge Parkway, then Gettysburg, PA, then home. Didn't want to leave a trail of oil. Link to comment
TEWKS
. Didn't want to leave a trail of oil. Thats called GPS Harley style If your in Gettysburg, take a ride over to york PA. You can take a tour of the Harley factory there. It's well worth your time. Pat Link to comment
jackhett
I know all about that. I'm riding with 4 guys on Harleys. Always the question: do I ride first to avoid the oil slicks or last to keep from being rear-ended if I have to stop fast? (That almost happened to me last fall being followed by one of the hogs.)
