David
El Paseo IV will be held the weekend of Friday, October 29, 2004. Rides will generally start at 1p that afternoon. Dinner will be on your own. Saturday (October 30) rides will generally start at 8a. Dinner will be as before in the dining room. It was $23 (including tax and tip) last time--we'll see later if that's the same. Most people will head home early on Sunday, 31 October. I'll be heading home to watch the Titans thrash the Bengals. For those of you who didn't attend, click here to see info about El Paseo III. Normally we'd hold this the first weekend in November, but that date was taken. The next weekend was also taken. And the third weekend would have been far too late for our friends in the northern frigid regions, and also too close to Thanksgiving. So, it'll be the last weekend in October. That should be safer for the weather. There will also be some leaves on the trees, though the crowds should be thin since the height of the leaf-watching is the middle of October. The bad news is that the room rate is up to $85. The normal rate for that time of year is $100/night, and he gave us a discount. Things have changed for them with a contract they have with the Casino. Sorry, folks. I realize that this $35 more per night. On the other hand, I don't want to start the research all over again, and I don't know where else we could do a convenient group dinner, which I think is a significant part of this event. Butch was very apologetic about it. If you decide to come on Thursday and stay three nights, the rate for all three nights is $79. I have a block of 40 rooms reserved, but they will be released 30 days from the event. Of that block, 35 are non-smoking and 5 are smoking. All have two beds. I would recommend that you go ahead and make reservations and then cancel them later if you wish. Unlike the spring, this is high season in western NC and all the hotels are expensive. Best Western Cherokee 828/497-2020 I am already looking forward to this! You can enthusiastically say "IN " in this thread, but we won't actually be creating an attendance list until much later. Having said all that: IN Link to comment

Patience
Thank you David. I'll look into that. People are starting to send me PM's as well for roomates. As far as hooking up with the rest of the group reliably, do you think it'll have much of an impact if I was to stay at the campground instead? Is there any kind of structure to the timing, as far as people meeting at the same time in the mornings, or is it just kind of play things by ear? Link to comment
