LGannon
My 02RT is coming up to 24,000 miles so I was in the vicinity of the local dealer and decided to pop in to ask how much and was it due a full service or just a scheduled inspection, they reckon it needs a full service and to budget for €650 I nearly fell off the chair as I have already done the engine oil and filter, gear box and final drive oil and front brake pads, IMO the only thing it needs now is brake fluid, clutch fluid and fuel filter and a TBsync, is it worth getting BMW to do this just for a stamp in the log book or should I just get them to do the bits I'm not confident in tackling? chrisolson
... or should I just get them to do the bits I'm not confident in tackling? I'd say that's a perfectly good option. Athough I don't do much work myself anymore, nothing wrong with DIY when done correctly. There's certainly no reason to re-do work just recently completed just 'cause its part of the list of service items in the maintenance schedule that a dealer will follow. On the other hand, to me, it just makes good sense to let the dealer (or other qualified shop) handle stuff that may take special tools or procedures you'd rather not do as evidenced by the numerous stories of "home repairs gone horribly bad" . Mostly I agree. I do ALL my own services, and have had no issues with the dealer and warranty. Since your warranty is gone, youshould have no qualms about doing your own. Jim Link to comment
