Michael_T
Does anyone know of switches (and where they can be purchased) that fit into the (unused) radio display window? Michael Link to comment
Sidmariner
Radio Shack or any electrical supply outlet will have a variety of microswitches that you can squeeze into the slot. You will have to ensure the switch can handle the loads you want to run, as the smaller switches are generally designed for very low voltage. They can be kind of delicate too, as the posts are usually pretty thin. After I went down this road I decided not to use the slot for the actual switch, but to use if for the LEDs which are connected to my Autoswitch and auxiliary light switches which I mounted elsewhere. I also put the daylight sensor for my headlight modulator in the slot. For that it works perfectly. http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e293/Margaree/IMG_02051.jpg Link to comment
Michael_T
Can these low voltage switches tie into the relay? Also, do they have to be H20 proof? thx Michael Link to comment
Albert
Oops, ignore the link in this post, I hadn't realized you were asking about an 1150. That relates to the R12's. Sorry. I would measure one of the holes and go to a local marine supply place (boat accessories). You should be able to find a waterproof switch that will come reasonably close to fitting the hole. You and "open" the hole slightly if need be. Check the thread below. They may have posted more info but it escapes me right now. http://bmwsporttouring.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/793614/page/0/fpart/1/vc/1 Link to comment
Sidmariner
Yes, sorry I forgot to mention that. You can use a low-voltage switch to control high voltage items (lights, heating etc.) if you go through a relay. You'll need to ask your supplier if the switch is rated to handle the amperage required to activate the relay. Usually this information is stamped onto the switch somewhere. Link to comment
