CT_Rider
If you use it, why and what do you think of it? (Please include your bike and your height) If you're over six feet and choose not to use it, what gives? Link to comment
stager
Bill... I have a +4.5 EuroCut on my RT. I'm 6'3" and when the shield is all the way up, I'm totally shielded...no buffeting...no noise. I think the +7 would be overkill. If you run with the shield partially down it may be a little too close for comfort. Link to comment
USAF1
A +7???? For real.....are you, like, 7 foot tall? That comes out to having a 31" shield doesn't it? Hey.....good luck! Pat Link to comment
Darren
4inch over is greatI am 6'2" and can ride in any weather with a position to suit. a great screen Link to comment
Shaman97
I have the +7 and love it - no wind noise/buffeting at any speed. I'm 6'5" with a Rick Mayer seat, which causes my head to be a bit higher than the stock seat affords. When the weather is warmer, and I want the breeze in my face, I lower the screen. Glad I went with this height. Link to comment

(Please include your bike and your height) If you're over six feet and choose not to use it, what gives? I am 6-4 and, yes I have a +7 screen. It isn't overkill for me. The taller screen allows me to ride with it at a lower height, and thus a decreased angle so as not to cause unwanted buffeting that occurs from riding with screen at full up position. The more vertical the screen is the more air the screen will push, rather than deflect up and over. I never feel like the screen is in my face, too close for comfort. I ride with the screen low enough to see over the top. When I am riding a more spirited ride, I lower the screen a bit to allow for better sight lines for corner entries. Those that have ridden with me know that the screen doesn't cause any issues, at least for me. Everyone has their own riding characteristics, and a +7 screen is not for everybody. It definitely works for me. Sorry, no picture of me sitting behind the shield. Link to comment
Alan D
I have been wondering about this screen myself. I'm using a Cee Bailey 4.5. I'm 6'4" with a 32 inch inseam, that means my height is more in my torso. After 65 mph I get buffeting with the screen almost all the way up. (It's worse all the way up) I'd like a quieter no buffeting ride on those long slab runs. Link to comment

I learned some time back that a minimalist shield is great for tucking behind, but not much good for long rides. The higher you lift the shield, the more vertical it must become, cancelling out any benefit of the shield. Turbulence increases, noise increases, even a slight increase in fuel consumption. Those with shorter windshields can argue the point all they want, but have any of them ever had a tall shield up front in order to make any comparison? Link to comment
Gregori
I'm 5'11, but have a long torso. The +7-1/2 inch screen on my bike is ideal for me. I started with a +4, and it wasn't enough, went to a +6 that was really close to right, and endedup at 7-1/2. I look over the top of it when it's fully extended, and can see the rear wheels of the car in front of me with about a 1-second following distance. (I ride in So-Cal, there isn't much choice...) When I first got it, it felt 'in my face' when riding agressively with the screen down. (while biting the mirrors, as they say around here.) But I've grown used to it, and now the stock screen feels ridiculously small. Link to comment

Sidmariner
I put the Cee Bailey +7 on my RT after reaching South-Sound BMW in Fife WA, near the end of a bone-chilling below-zero ride from Utah to Victoria BC last October. Boy, was I glad to have the extra protection. I commute on my bike all year, and no longer dread the cold temperatures or rain of the winter months. When raised, the extra couple of inches virtually eliminates the helmet buffetting I experience when the screen is down. The warmth you retain when you're behind the bigger shield is amazing. I always arrive warm, dry and clean when I get to work. Only two very minor issues need to be considered. One, I have GS mirrors mounted on my bars. The bigger windshield makes contact about 1/2" from the hard over position...no biggy. The other thing I have to remember is not lean too far forward when getting on or off the bike, as I'll invariably smack the shield with my helmet visor. Otherwise, I think the +7 is a good investment. I'm 6'3" BTW. Link to comment
