mikeyf
Has anyone ever tried to install bungee buddies on the system cases? If so, how did you do it? Is there an alternative for strapping a tent, etc., on top of the case? Link to comment
TomfromMD
I'd be reluctant to try it as the panniers, like the top case, are double walled. Link to comment
Leo Flor
Has anyone ever tried to install bungee buddies on the system cases? If so, how did you do it? Is there an alternative for strapping a tent, etc., on top of the case? I agree with Tom; I didn't attach bungee buddies on the 1150 cases and specially not on the 1200 double-walled cases. As an alternative, I made custom length bungee cords. Outdoor stores sell bungee cord by length. I bought several feet of 1/4" bungee cord and a couple of dozen pairs of fasteners. The fasteners attach to the ends of the cut and cauterized bungees. I made short ones to pass under the pillion seat so that the ends just stick out from either side of the seat. These are nylon-tied to frame members under the seat. I also have short ones threaded through the luggage rack under the top case. These are the anchors to which I attach longer bungees that hold down or bind luggage or equipment. When I don't need them, the anchor bungees are hidden under the seat and my system cases look neat and tidy the way I like. You might think this is a lot of trouble. The RT is a handsome bike and I like having nothing but black bungees showing when needed. I also made several pairs of varying lengths that I always have in my riding kit. Link to comment
RoyTemple
I have these looped around the frame rails under the pylon seat toward the front and another set around the luggage rack (each side) under the large top box. They are almost invisible when not in use. I use adjustable bunggees to hold my test, Thermarest, ground cloth, etc. on the pylon seat when touring. http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Aerostich-Frame-Loops-Royale-p-16201.html Link to comment
