6000 mile service done by dealer..Valves were fine

12000 mile service done at Limecreek's Tech Daze. Valves were fine. Throttle body sync very minor adjustment.

Just checked valves at 19200 miles.. Valves were fine. Bike has never ran better (Good fuel efficiency, no vibration problem, smooth operation)..Do I really need to do a throttle body sync now and do I really need to check the valves every 6000 miles? confused.gif

BTW..No oil consumption either...Do I need to say how much I love this bike? clap.gifclap.gif

Is that the 6000 miles service that kept you from meeting me on the way to Torrey. You remember the panic you were in over that. Now you tell me they didn't do anything. ooo.gif

They didn't do anything. That's goes to the point of my question..I was told how important it was to have the valves adjusted at 6000 miles.. I did that.. They were fine..They're still fine..What's gonna happen to make em change? confused.gif Throttle seems fine as far as I can tell..Is it just gonna lay down and die next week if I don't scrrew with the adjustment? grin.gif

Same results on my RT (34k+). I no longer do the service on mine every 6000, just every 12,000. Bike currently has over 10k since the last service and it's still running perfectly. I do think I might love my RT more than you love yours... more miles! grin.gif

Cam and valve train wear tend to increase the clearance. Valve face and seat wear tend to reduce it. If it's too loose you get noise and possibly a little less performance. If it's too tight you risk burning a valve. If it's unequal side to side, you get uneven running. Better to check it when adjustment isn't needed than to ignore it when it is.

(I know, you were bragging, not really complaining. Sounds like you got a good one.)

My results have been similar for the last 20K miles. I have yet to need to actually adjust the TB's, though I check them and the valves every 6K.

IMHO no. I found the same results so started doing every 12000 miles, still the same. I have a new bike, will do the 6000, then 12000, and if nothing changes will continue with every 12000. Most people are to anal about the BMW bible or if the bike hiccups once in a while.
