Question About - BeadRider Seats

I found that the BeadRider efectively doubled the comfort range of the pretty bad OEM R1200RT seat - not as good as a replacement seat, but well worth the $35.00, IMHO.

I hate crotch pot cooking on those hot summer days, long trips or when its been sitting in the sun all day waiting for me. I had them on the RT, loved them. Now on LT just as good. Love the air flow and the drier seat. 1K no problem. Motolights sells them. Ask for Tina and tell her you were referred! She will take care of you.

Hi, I tried the Gel, Air,Sheep and beads. I rate them as from best worst to best as 4 Air, 3 Gel, 2 Sheepskin, and 1 the beads. In rain they keep the water from puddling on the seat, they are cooler on hod days and are the cheepest of the 4. This is my humble opinion.

After years of trying to like them on the seats of heavy equipment I never could. After a while they all made sore spots.

Just to prove they did not work better on a motorcycle I tried one on the RT. I still cannot like them! They are cool. They do increase the seat hight on a seat that is already tall. And they do get uncomfortable after a couple hours. Your results may vary!

The sheepskin is another story. Cooler than leather in summer and definately added to long distance comfort.

Got my first beaded seat for my K1100LT in 2000, first ride was to Sturgis 3500 miles round trip, heat in the 90's, that sold me. In summer they are invaluable keeping the butt from sweating, no more monkey butt. Cold weather you can feel the breeze. As far as comfort it helps some, spreading the pressure points. Mine is so old I do not remember where I got it. Last year I purchased a beaded seat that was made for a car for $5, took it apart, making myself extra seats, it was winter and I had nothing better to do. If you find a source please let me know. I got mine as a desparate attempt to avoid spending $600 on a new seat. I was VERY skeptical, as I used to get uncomfortable after only 200-250 miles on the stock "comfort" seat. Put the beads on, and was shocked at what a difference they made. Since, I've done 20 hour days, including a Saddlesore 1000, without even a hint of discomfort. Incredible, especially considering how cheap they are. I use them all year long, even in the winter, as I wear riding pants to keep me warm.

For $35, they're definitely worth a shot to see if they make a difference for you. Mine is the 14x14 inch model as shown http://www.mklsportster.com/r1150rt/beadrider.jpg

Like they say, 50,000 New York cabbies can't be wrong.

I switch between beads and sheepskin pad - both are very helpful. You ought get both!

Thanks for all the advice. I bough some and have been riding for a week with them on my USA bike - Kawasaki Vulcan 1600. Very nice indeed. Does look a little funny, but ---butt. clap.gif

Really liked them. Big difference. What they don't tell you is that, included with them, is GUARANTEED...................abuse from your "friends." angry7.gif

I haven't tried the beads on my RT but I have tried them on other bikes. For me, they decrease comfort. While they do keep your butt cool, they did nothing to reduce pressure points. I have a suspicion that they work better for people who have sufficient natural padding in their buttocks. As someone who runs 20 miles a week, my buttocks don't have much padding.

He's evidently never seen me. Anyone care to fill him in? lurker.gif

Oh, and my doctor advised against my running so as to avoid a knee replacement at 50. Shucky darn.

Hmmm. I think it's more of an individual, subjective issue. Personally, I love my beads. At 155 pounds with 7% body fat, I don't think I fit the "ample natural padding" category... tongue.gif

I use the BeadRider on my other bike, a HondaPottamus (GoldWing) dopeslap.gif and have routinely put on 16+ hr days with complete comfort. Also just rode across South America with the BeadRider on an F650GS, also in complete comfort. Get them, they're worth it.
