jborsos Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 Hi all. I purchased a very nice 99 RT about a year ago after not riding for several years, all I can say is what a perfect bike. Now the reason for my post. I am in the process of installing a Veypor motorcycle performance meter and am need to locate the tach output for the meter to record rpm. I ordered a Clymer manual only to discover it only covers up to 1998. The wealth of info on this board never ceases to amaze me. Thanks in advance for any help. Jack
Ken H. Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 Hi Jack, Welcome! I am familiar with, and looking at, the diagram for the current generation R1150RT, so bear this in mind, but in this area I think the R1100RT and R1150RT are largely the same. The tach gets its pulse from the ignition coil at the same pickup point as the Motronic engine management computer. It is pin 3, a black wire, on connector X9002 to the tach. Good luck.
jborsos Posted March 26, 2004 Author Posted March 26, 2004 Thanks for your help. I'll keep you posted as to how the Veypor Performance Meter works. Has anyone here installed one of these units? Jack
