Whip
Mr. Roberts Neighborhood (That would be us) meets Advrider.com (That would be them). Over at Advrider.com I have offered my house as a "tent space". About 6 months ago I got an email from one of their members requesting the use of my house as a meeting place for a trip to Mexico. Several riders would meet here, stay one night leave their trailers and trucks here and return in the next week or two. After checking with Louise, of course they were welcome. I didn't hear back from them for some time. I tried to follow the planning thread but lost track of their schedule and plans. We started exchanging emails again as the dates got closer. They would arrive on the last day of February and take off on the first of March. Two guys would trailer in three bikes one would fly in and the fourth would ride his bike down from Fort Worth. I insisted on meeting the first rider at the airport and bringing him to our house. He calls himself "cmwoody" (Chris) The gentleman from Fort Worth had great timing and called me from an intersection near my house just as Chris and I approached. We were confuse why he didn't get on his bike and follow us. He wanted to finish his beer first. This was the first sign of things to come. As night time approached the trailer gang had not arrived. Soon they called and told stories of trailer issues and flat tires. When they finally got to my house, after missing all the turns and screwing up every direction I gave them (not all their fault), they started drinking Patron out of the bottle like it was water. They couldn't get from the yard to the house without emptying the bottle. cmwoody had a few drinks before the trailer showed up with his bike. Ross (Redone on the Advrider board) road his Tiger in. Rick (R1100Rick) Lead singer and driver of the truck/trailer. Sean doesn't like to rush into anything, so he hasn't joined any internet boards. But he does speak Spanish and he says he can read a map I told Louise these guys could be barbarians....so she prepared an appropriate meal After unloading the bikes they spent a few minutes catching up...it turns out they didn't have any plans yet. They couldn't come to an agreement.......so Chris decided to do a burnout in my barn at midnight on his modified XR650R. No police showed up so I guess the neighbors didn't mind. It didn't take a rocket scientist to discover the problem...... Sean’s bike Rick’s bike.....can I be an Adventure Rider too if I get a bunch of stickers. Ross's bike. and Chris's XR650R....He got the new Plasma cutter the same day he got his new Fast Dates calendar. Chris was thinkin dirt, Rick and Sean were think asphalt and Ross didn't care. Louise wouldn't let them sleep outside. So in they came for the night. I don't know how this fits on his bike. Rick's bed. In the morning Tiffany felt violated and abused.... But Rick had a smile on his face..... By mornin they had a plan.....separate into two groups. Chris and Ross would go find some Mexican dirt. Sean and Rick would head south to explore Mexico. I didn't expect to see them for several days, maybe even a week or two. The next day at work my phone rings......it's Chris. He decided to cut his trip short and hang out in San Antonio until he could get a flight out. He was really only doing all this so he could get some paperwork at the border and he didn't like the way the bike was working. So I came home early and he took Louise and I out to dinner. The next day we went downtown to check out the Alamo. He joined our board to post this pick (Boris the Spider)....he's the Mod Squad lookin dude. I took him to the airport the next day and look forward to seeing him again. The story is not over yet.......still had three Advriders out there somewhere. I got a pm from Ross, he made it home safe and was very appreciative of his visit and he will always be welcome at our home. Two left....I had their truck and trailer and no idea when they would show up. Then one night while I was sleeping my phone rings. It's Rick he's at the intersection near my house and will be there in a couple minutes. Louise is in PA so it's no big deal. They show up with a bag of burgers and tales of their adventure. I got up early and down loaded their pix to my computer (Killer taught me that trick)......don't know any of these places, but some of the pix are very cool..... Some of Ya'll are gonna know these places...feel free to fill me in.... We really enjoyed meeting some dudes from the Evil Empire....hope that some day "we can all just get along" BTW....any body have any idea where they were when they took those pix..... Its located in the central highlands. http://whip.smugmug.com/photos/134742250-L.jpg Dunno man, those seem like some little tunnels to be Guanajuarto. Could be the road that goes through the city in the old dried up riverbed. The way cool 3 mile long tunnel through the mountain...with the underground intersection from the road to Lyon is the killer site to see there...and the mummys...and the old mines...and the international music festival...and the hippy free love art chicks at the collage there. Cool town, the pics don't do it justice. One of the most beautiful if not the best in tacoland. The majority of the pics are from San Miguel de Allende. Thats the old cathedral and the Jardine where the man with the Clydesdale sells the world's best ice cream... Story goes that the Spaniards built the cathedral from a picture off a postcard...drawing the plans in the sand with a pointy stick. Took them 300 or so years to complete... One more thing...Whip... I'll pay you...please, PuhLeeze can you get rid of that picture of the drunk guy you call CmWoodys. It frightens me plus I've met that guy and thats not him. The real CMWoodys is black...seriously Link to comment

tallman
Great movie. Nearly all of the action takes place on a backwater cargo ship, the USS Reluctant that sails, as written in the play, "from apathy to tedium with occasional sidetrips to monotony and ennui." Link to comment
