Lineareagle
When I opened my new shock box I was a little surprised and concerned about the difference between the two shocks. 1. Size. 2. Configuration. 3. The piston rod diameter. HOWEVER 1 & 2 were OK it fit but number three took a little while to realize that not only was there a rubber bumper on the end but a bushing as well. Worked it off and on to the new Ohlin and presto, it fit. Now if only this -21C weather would go back down to Colorado I'd be a happy rider. Link to comment
tom collins
amazing that we pay the kind of money it costs for a bmw and you get that cr_p for a suspension, not to mention the seat and windscreen. $2,000 to make a 15-20,000 bike right. seems wrong. enjoy them, it will literally be a different bike. tom collins Link to comment
Eckhard Grohe
Can I ask where you bought them??? Link to comment
JoeV
I realize I am not the original poster your were directly your question to but I put Ohlins on my R1150r Rockster last fall. I purchased them from Kyle Racing. I liked their service and price. Joe V Link to comment
Lineareagle
I bought them from Hard Racing in NC. I would say excellent service and right on time. I was starting to feel a little uncomfortable hitting bumps in corners so hopefully this will solve that and I am really looking forward to working them this summer. Link to comment

I had shocks on my R1100RT for 90,000 miles, changed them out and did not notice much of a diffrence. Link to comment
tom collins
well, we all have different levels of perception. maybe this affects some folks more than you and maybe something else bothers you more. many folks seem to notice an improvement when they change suspension. if nothing else when you see the stock and aftermarket side-by-side, you have to be struck by the obvious differences in quality. but, maybe not. to each his own. tom collins Link to comment
Jerry Johnston
They have such a nice machined look about them you almost wish you had a spare to hang on the wall to look at. Link to comment

Have you ever ridden an RT or any other bike that has a set of Ohlins on it? Link to comment

Have you ever ridden an RT or any other bike that has a set of Ohlins on it? +1 My RT was a completely different bike when I swapped the stock shocks for Works at 36K. It was smoother and more plush on the freeway, didn't wallow in high-speed sweepers, and wouldn't bottom out on the centerstand no matter how hard I threw it into corners. I did keep the stock seat on the bike, though. Link to comment
KDeline
Well that could be part of it, I do not lean hard enough to scrap it, or even get a wobble, to many what if's for my taste. Link to comment
Smoky
After installing my Wilbers, even my wife noticed from the pillion that the bike was cornering better. Link to comment
StuGotz
Hey Russell: How do the Works shocks compare to Wilburs and Ohlins? I like the Works people, they have always stressed service and a custom fit. thanks, MB> Link to comment
Paul Mihalka
Well, I'm more in line with KDeline than with Russell. Russell some times says he is cheap, but I'm cheaper . On my '99 R1100RT when it had 40K miles I had a $2.000 windfall in a bike buy/sell, and I got a set of Ohlins before it became something for the living room. They had a much nicer ride than stock and good control but there was nothing that I could do with the Ohlins that I didn't do with the stock shocks. On my current R1150R at around 40K miles I had the chance to grab a almost new set of shocks from a R1150R Rockster that is a bit sportier than stock R1150R, and they are on the bike now at 75K miles and they are about as good as they were when new. The Ohlins had to be overhauled around every 40K miles because they started leaking. I did not use the stock shocks long enough to be really shot. All this nonwithstanding, when my current shocks get close to shot, I'll get a set of Wilbers - unless I find another opportunity Link to comment
