NEED WINDSHIELD ADVICE

2007 R1200RT windshield's "V" shape is annoying me. When I set it so I'm looking just over the center, I still have to look THRU it left & right and sometimes when cornering. Lowering it more so that doesn't happen just decreases the wind protection. I am 6'0" w/31" inseam. What have others done to solve this aggravation?

I am thinking a WIDER shield would help more than a taller one--don't really like to look THRU a shield. Any advice is appreciated! confused.gif

++++for the Ztechnik VStream

What is so unique or better about the Ztechnik as opposed to the OEM screen ?

It is exactly the same height as the stock screen but has a unique shape on the sides that makes it about 3-4 inches wider but only at the upper portions. Sort of a 'coke bottle' shape which is supposed to influence the airflow into a vortex type of flow causing it to pass 'around' the rider instead of 'into' the rider. Could be all smoke and mirrors but it really did cut down on the buffeting around my helmet compared to the stock shield. I have tried many various aftermarket shield on many different bikes...this is the first one I have kept.

VStream definitely makes the "envelope" wider. I experience much less wind on my arms and shoulders. Wife (as pillion) also reports less turbulence and wind noise.

be careful if you install a larger screen. See my experience with a broken support arm here. (and there were several other reports of broken supports that I found in the archives, although I didn't find any mention of problems with the Ztechnik).

Sure like my Cee Baileys

+1 for the Cee Bailey's. I have had 2, one each on an 1100RT and my current 1150RT. I have the #2, which has a kick at the top, 2" wider than stock, and 2" taller than stock. Light grey tint, could NOT be happier. They say it's the same thickness as stock, but it looks slightly thicker to me. Also, because of the upturned edge, I seldom raise it past 1/2 way to get all the wind protection I could ever want. My $0.02.

++ on the VStream as well. My recollection though is that it is +2 over stock. In support of that, I ran the stock shield fully extended and the VStream slightly lower. Haven't taken any measurements though. Btw, in both cases, I look over the top. (6'1", 33" inseam). Airflow is generally better though not a huge difference IMHO. The biggest difference I've noticed is that it seems significantly more stable in crosswinds. Anyone else notice this? Anyway, I'm pleased with the change.
