Turbosneeze
I'm just about to click 'Purchase' for a Zumo 550. However, I have not figured how to mount the GPS unit on my bike just yet (as I assume the supplied RAM mount will not just mount on the 1150RT). Please help with some suggestions on my mounting options... obviously, little to no vibration and within the sight of vision while motoring down the road are both very important factors for me. Also, what is the recommended wired headset for the Zumo 550 as I'd like to listen to both the directions and MP3 player (a earplug/headset that serves both as a earplug to kill the road/wind noise as well as ability to play music will be the most ideal). And on a final note, can the V1 simply plug into the Zumo for me to hear the warning signals through the wired headset? Thanks all for your help and input. Link to comment
Geraldh
I just purchased a Bluetooth Earphone from The Source here in Canada. The clerk was able to pair it with my Zumo right away and I was able to hear some songs played on the MP3 player. I'll test out the TTS function on the way home tonight. Hopefully this works as I don't have an intercom system and just want something to hear the prompts as well as an occasional song or two. The earphone is made by NEXXTECH and the pairing shows up on my Zumo as 1714501. Link to comment
bababooey
I used the mount that came with the Zumo on my 1200RT, just needed to spend $.99 on a longer u-bolt from hardware store. Looks good to me and is close to my left hand to operate and see. -ME Link to comment

moshe_levy
I made my own bracket out of aluminum stock, which I painted black. Then I stuck a diamond-shaped RAM mount on the bracket, and viola! http://www.mklsportster.com/r1150rt/gpsmount2.jpg -MKL Link to comment

DRxDR
I've just received my Zumo and will be installing it on an Accessory shelf above the gauges. A RAM 1" ball will be mounted to the shelf ( ball only part # RAM B309 3U from http://www.expressmounts.com/) and the included RAM clamp will attach to the fixed ball. Can anyone advise me as to the best location to connect the 12 volt power supply to? I'd prefer to keep the wiring within the front fairing, if possible, and am still undecided wheather it should be a 'switched' or 'continuous' power connection. TIA, wayne Link to comment
