RT is Too Comfortable!

The lovely flame, Jennifer, and I went out for a short 250 mile jaunt through the local So Cal canyons today. The weather was a mixed bag...rainy, sunny, and spots of incredible wind...In fact, there were a couple of spots up by Point Dume that we nearly got blown over sitting at a stop sign! blush.gif

Anyway, we meandered up the coast to Ventura and had lunch at a little Mexican place we like to frequent. You know the place: small, family-run, great prices and authentic! After a fruit salad (the house specialty, and a couple of burritos we got back underway only find out that...

Jennifer kept falling asleep on the back! Later she said, "Well it was cold-that makes me sleepy, but I think the biggest thing is that the RT is TOO comfortable."

Everybody should have this problem on a touring bike, shouldn't they?? thumbsup.gif

Hi Steve

Congrats on making the transition from the 1150 to the 1200 handle. It is now official, you have/own a 1200 hexhead. I know what you mean about your SO falling asleep on the bike. Mary has done that on several occasions. I know immediately when her helmet "clinks" against mine that she is catching a power nap. I am looking forward to evaluating a RDL and seeing what all the fuss is about. I am glad it is working out so well for you.

Steve, how is the difference for the passenger between the R1200 and the 1150, as far as protection? I know you are a lot taller than I, so it won't be a close comparison, but you might give us some idea from the distaff side. On our R1100RT, Jane gets really beat-up as the still-air pocket collapses right on her! frown.gif

Steve....

Cool... glad the Flame is enjoying the 1200! Joannafinas (SP?) is a great place. I just drove by there yesterday!

I spent the night in Ventura yesterday so just missed you.

I used to "pat" lovely Patricia's leg from time to time when I'd have a mini panic attack thinking she'd gone overboard (she's a great pillion and I often can't tell she's back there!).... I never should have told her that I was checking to see if "she was still there," because she just thought I was being "sweet and attentive!" grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

How many miles you put on that bike already?

LOL ! Nina does that too... she falls asleep on the bike and in front of the tele. Not sure what the two have in common though, except that I am close to her grin.gifgrin.gif

Back of your helmet and what's on the television aren't a whole lot different in terms of viewing quality. Maybe that's it.

I blamed the comfort factor for me running out of gas twice since owning the RT. Yep it had to be that. dopeslap.gif

Now THAT is the working def. of a comfortable moto seat! thumbsup.gif

Meghan did the same thing a couple of times on the old 1100RT. If I heard the clink I knew it was time to wake her up.

Well you certainly know the bike is smooth and quiet when your passenger falls asleep on the back of your motorcycle. That is my kind of machine. Stealth mode baby!
