E30TECH
When I bought my RT, I traded the seller my Battery Tender Plus for his BMW Gel Battery charger. Is there any real difference between the 2 chargers? Link to comment
GordonB
Depends on the BMW charger model you have. If the metal case is similar to the Battery tender, then there's not much dif. if any. Both made by the same company. Link to comment

So this charger would work on an Odyssey battery? Link to comment
GordonB
The latest version of BMW's charger will work on Std lead Acid, Gel, And AGM (Odessey). Key word is latest version. Go to BMW's site, look up gear, then maintenance, select charger, see if they look the same. FWIW....It should read "Advanced battery Charging System" on the front. Link to comment

ShovelStrokeEd
When all is said and done, it shouldn't matter a whit what charger you use. The one exception would be if the battery has been allowed to discharge some large percentage of its capacity. After all, the charging system on the bikes remains the same and seems to keep the bike charged pretty well. I suppose there is some difference in the mode required for a maintenance charge but, I never do that seeing that I live in a warm climate and can ride my bike(s) year round. Link to comment

I guess I never thought of that. Its the simple things some of us tend to overlook Since the previous owner kept his Harley, I told him that it was sacrilegious to charge a Harley with a BMW charger. The same thinking also got him to fork over the BMW bike cover as he wanted to keep it for the Harley. Link to comment
