milesandmiles
Is there a way to rig the alt batt to feed to the starter if neccessary. Maybe by jumping fuse contacts. Plan "B" is to carry little bitty jumper cables to go from one batt to another. Link to comment
Paul_Burkett
A&S Cycles carries the jumpers that you want, two wires go to the battery and lead to a plug, the portable part is a plug with 6' of cable and alligators. I just called them and they have them for $50.00. Link to comment
ShovelStrokeEd
You can do it but, and there is always a but, it will require a relay similar to a starter solenoid to carry the current. So, you go to the auto parts store and pick up an older Ford remote starter solenoid. Wire that, with appropriate sized wire (0-gauge should be OK) to connect the positive leads of the two batteries. Make sure the ground lead from the aux battery is heavy enough to carry the current as well. Now a simple toggle switch, powered from the aux battery to the dash someplace. Flip switch, two batteries are in parallel and you have the extra amps for starting. Flip it off again after the motor starts though, those solenoids are really not designed for continuous duty application and will overheat if kept energized for too long. Link to comment

Pick the Ford relay from the start terminal of the starter motor - the one energized by the starter relay. It will energize only when cranking and you can put a switch in line to prevent the second battery from helping. (Although I would be at a loss to explain why you wouldn't want the extra juice.) You can make your own cables out of Monster speaker wire. Link to comment
