GordonB
Pulling the number 5 fuse, how long? Instant? or is there residual power? Link to comment
John Dickens
Opinions are divided. Some say 15 seconds. Others say pull the fuse, go have a beer, put the fuse back in. Link to comment
ShovelStrokeEd
Aren't those the same time period?? Since there is no backup battery inside the ECU, duration of the fuse pull is unimportant. Pull it out, stick it back in, the ECU will reset. Link to comment

There are others on this forum who are much more qualified than me, but I don't think this reset procedure applies to the 1100 cc engines, only the 1150's. Please correct me if I am wrong. Pulling the fuse will reset the Motronic on either series. It's what you do next that differs. On the R1150xx series you do the throttle reset procedure next, on the R1100xx series you do not. chipsonfriday
Excuse my ignorance - but why would we perform a Motronic reset in the first place? Link to comment
GordonB
To clear the fault codes. In my case I was experiencing ABS faults which I later learned are stored in the ABS unit, not the Motronic. And to add, I learned the ABS unit is capable of storing only one fault at a time.
