Zumo Now Has "Elevation" (w/2.51 Beta)

I just learned in this thread -- http://razorbiker.com/zumo/viewtopic.php?t=471 -- over on the Zumo website that the Beta Version 2.51 of the Garmin Zumo 550 now sports an elevation reading and expanded compass page. An on/off recalc is supposed to be next. I'm personally ambivalent about these but I know this might interest some of you, so... Screen shots from the Zumo owner are posted here:

do you know if the altitude or elevation (whatever they are calling it) goes above 9,999 feet? I have a 2610 and unless you are on one of the setup screens it blanks out at 10,000 feet and above on the navigation screen. it really annoys me.

I honestly don't know if the Zumo's screen blanks out at or above 10,000 feet. Er, but it wouldn't matter to me anyway, because I'd probably blank out at or above 10,000 feet myself. Talk about annoying! crazy.gif

That's funny. I've got a Garmin 276C, and the altitude display definitely does not go blank above 10,000 ft. It does, however, display a number above 10,000 in "Ks", i.e., 10,500 ft is displayed as 10.5; worked like a charm in Colorado last summer.

Or you could switch to Meters.
Yes, but then every other measurement is in metric too, like speed. Given that my RT speedo only has kmph (no mph, which I find strange, given that US-spec bikes have both), I've really come to depend on GPS speed when I'm south of the border.
