Talked to Richard at 5:15pm (pacific). Guy doesn't even sound like he's been riding at all. Totally alert and in good spirits. Says he's back on the road after having Roast Beef in LA eek.gif Isn't that like going to Mexico and having French cuisine?

Go Richard Go!!! thumbsup.gifclap.gif

9:50 EST. Just spoke to him, he's just passing New Awlins. Said he may stop for a nap. He's going to call me when he crosses I-75. Looking for him very early am.

Some of us will meet him & give escort to the beach, then he'll crash (sorry) with us.

He's gonna do it!!! thumbsup.gifclap.gif

Amazing technology.

Talked to Richard and he's east of the Big Easy.

He sounds like he's having a great time.

I'm glad we all get to share the 50CC certificate. Thanks Richard.

Ride safe, thumbsup.gif

Except next time we're gonna have to get a schedule going so the phone calls are more effectively spread out. smile.gif

Just off the phone at 18:20 PST (21:20 EST)! He's east of 'Nawlins about 540 miles from his end point and going strong. LA was a bitch with a huge multiple fatality accident (in the west-bound lanes), that had traffic snarled for MILES. He said it cost him a few hours. frown.gif

Someone called while we were on the phone as well! grin.gif

Danny, he said for you to call him again and he'll pull over to jot down your phone number as there was no place good for him to stop and he got so many messages he doesn't have your number written down.

Thanks to the welcoming committee for preparing to "catch" Richard on the other end! Be sure to take LOTs of pics!!! clap.gif

Go, Richard GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cool.gif

6:25 pm Left Coast Time.

He's out of New Orleans but in some thick fog. Says his speed has dropped to below 40.

(That was me Jamie.....)

Seems like it would be easy to fix up a poll or something where you get to pick your time to call.........I told Richard a web cam on the phone would be nice too lmao.gif

Now if I could get THAT technology working, then THAT would be enough incentive to get me to do another one!! clap.gifgrin.gif

9.55 pm EST just talked to him. Seems to be doing great. Just out of Louisiana and happy about it. He is around Mobile. He might do it without rest. he knows he has a escort waiting in Tallahassee. Will it be a police escort? smile.gif

Link to comment

If he can get here around midnight, there might be one....I may stay out later for him. I just tried him....direct to voicemail...if he's around Pensacola, then he'll be here 'round 0030 local.

10:20 pm EST and he's out of the worst of the fog and east of Biloxi, MS.

I gave him my best pilot guess weather report and the wet stationary front is with him for the duration. Not too bad considering the time of year.

He sure sounds chipper.

oh, and he said something about.... "Go Dawgs" lmao.gif

This is classic!!! clap.gif

A motor LEO in Tallahassee waiting up past his shift to give our man a "code-3" escort through town and another guy from the UK posting a link to the restaurant in JAX to help out the guys on the receiving end!! TOO MUCH!!!!! I just LOVE this place!! smile.gifbncry.gifsmile.gifbncry.gifsmile.gif

What's his deadline 12noon (EST)?

If he left here around 07:30 PST, then he has until 12:30 local time (EST) to get to the gas station in Jacksonville Beach, FL and get his gas receipt. Once he stops the clock (by getting a gas receipt) he can take his time getting his sand and water, getting his witness' signature, having breakfast, etc.

Not on a motor Jamie, in a cage tonight, as for the code 3, well I have no idea what you're talking about eek.gif

I just talked to him and he's just crossed into Alabama.......man, he's kicking butt and taking names!

+/- 1900 mi in 35 ish hrs with about 500 to go. About 9 hours to go by my 3rd grade math. (Tough friggin' 2 years that was!) He's making it look easy!

*Edit* 1952 PST. He's pulling into Mobile, AL for fuel. Guy sounds like any other day. Amazed at the 12 pages he's generated, launching him into mediocrity! lmao.gif Figure JAX by 0100 PST and the beach soon after.

BTW, all of you are amazing. The support for him has simply warmed my heart (such as it is). THIS, right here, is why I love this group of folks. You're the best. clap.gif

He is in Mobile, Alabama about to get gas. Bike is running great and Richard sounds like he doing very well.

Seems to me the brother has it handled clap.gif

GO RICHARD grin.gif

That's about right. It's about 7 hrs. from Mobile to Jax beach, but add at least an hour cause he'll probably make more stops on the last stint. The State Troopers are particularly efficient in the panhandle. The section between Tallahassee and I-75 can at times be like running a gauntlet, there are many hiding places in the median.

I'm still trying to get through to let him know.

If Ellen's kitchen isn't open early enough there's a Dennys or pancake house a block from the ocean on Atlantic.

Go Richard.

Jamie and I just talked with him. I guess we are his first threesome on a bike!!! Eeeeewwwwwwwwwww!!!

That's bbbbbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhd!!

Don't worry Whip, Richard has been warned about that 'Huzband' guy!!!!! However, Richard did mention something about your dogs being a little out of date on their vaccinations!!!!! I would DEFINITELY do something about that lest you end up with Hoof and Mouth disease in Texas!!!!!!!

Huzband, stay away from him, he may be contagious!!!!!!

He is just east of Mobile, feeling GREAT, sounding GREAT, motoring on!! Got off the phone England was calling. Mustn't keep the Queen waiting!!!

GO RICHARD GO!!!!!!! thumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif

I just spoke with Richard, he was still in Alabama, thinks he has about 6 hours left before finishing this ride. He is doing great, no bad weather, few delays. Didn't want ot jinx him, so I kept the call kinda short. Give 'em a call!

Well, he sounds fantastic, and I can't believe his phone reception, it seems like he's next door. He's jazzed about the whole thing, is planning a short stop in Tally, then bringing on in. I can't decide whether to head out now and intercept him in route or get up with the early birds for breakfast. Why is this so frickin exciting? grin.gif

Go NOW!!! You won't regret it and I know Richard will love the formation landing!!!

Why do you love it? Because this ride has emboddied everything that this board is. It is a collective of separate individuals who come together because of a shared passion. Through that coming together, a synergy happens that makes us all better than we could be by ourselves.

This board changes people. It brings us together as humans. It is really interesting to me how we are brought together by motorcycles. We are kept together by each other.

We rib each other, we help each other, we irritate each other (some more than others HUZBAND), yet we are better for it and because of it.

Richard has somehow carried the BMWST banner across this great nation, yet in doing so, he has connected the world.

We have people across the Big Blue. We are all the same.

Richard, thanks for taking on the role, event hough we would NEVER have elected you grin.gifgrin.gif.

GO RICHARD GO!!!

Hmmmmmm, how about making it a 100CCC???????????

Did anyone else hear the National Anthem playing in the background while reading? I swear and American Flag unfurled behind when I got to the end…

With Matt only having one thumb worth a darn, and falling apart in the middle, we couldn't have elected him cross country monkey now could we?

I do totally agree that this place is magical and I will admit to having checked in here several times tonight. I am part jealous, part giddy, and mostly excited that a friend of mine is getting the attention. This place is home to me just as much as my house is. Even with the English...(I of course only mean the English living in Utah that is)grin.gif..... OK I will go buy another calendar as penance.
