Rick M
Would like to install those black head cover guards, that cover the lower half of the cover...who makes them? Link to comment
JohnBeaven
Check out the Touratech guards first. Far more substantial, look good, and down here they were about the same price. Link to comment
timmr
I have them on the GS. They are about the same price as the plastic ones, but look to offer better protection. Link to comment
keithb
You may want to invest in the engine protection bars instead. Touratech and Hepco Becker sell them I believe. They are much more substantial than the black plastic ones. The plastic ones are good for a tipover only. The metal bars will save your heads and plastic. Plastic covers cost about $125 vs. the bars for $350 or so. Link to comment
Crazy_Canuck
I wish I would have had some on. I dropped my bike two days ago...ouch. It was night time I thought I had engaged my side stand all the way, went to lean it over and it kept going and going to the point I could no longer hold it. Needless to say I just purchased some of the plastic guards. Link to comment
romes
Has anyone installed the Engine Protection Bars from Wunderlich ? They look like they would hold up pretty good in a mishap. Link to comment
Albert
Check out this site (he is a member here). He and a buddy both picked up RTs around the same time. One went with the guards, one with the bars. There's a nice write up and good pictures of both there. http://mysite.verizon.net/vzenuw5o/r1200rt/index.html Link to comment
JohnBeaven
I did exactly the same thing before I fitted the guards. At least now the guards hide the scratches on the rocker covers Doesn't hide the scratches on the bags though. Link to comment

One of the other threads on the forum shows how to cover up scratched bags, etc. with miles of reflective tape. Link to comment

bakerzdosen
another alternative: Stanton Head Guards Wow, if they made those for hexheads, I'd have a set now... Link to comment

Ken H.
You didn't say which hexhead you're asking about, but if it's the GS, the HP2 ones fit the other GS models: Link to comment
Stuart Bliwas
I have a set of the Stanton Head Guards and a good thing a do. My 1150RT is a bit too high for me and as a result I've dropped the bike more times then I'd care to admit. The guards worked fine but the saddle backs show the scuffing. Link to comment
