Kroref
While installing some hi-way pegs on my 04 RT, am I understanding the manual correctly that when tightening down the cylinder head bolts I am to tighten down the bolts to an initial torque of 20nm, and then go beyond a 180 degrees(half a turn?) then slacken and retighten to 40nm? David
Wait!!!!!! You should be looking at valve cover torques, no? And they are just a fraction of that. Something like 8nm (but look it up), just above finger tight. Those things are notoriously easy to strip. And if you're using head torque settings, it ain't going to be pretty. Link to comment
Kroref
I did as you suggested and found "cylinder head cover to cylinder head" value 8nm. Glad I asked and thanks for the feedback. Link to comment
Ken H.
Whew! They would have snapped off / stripped out long before 20nm +180! Link to comment
