TomS
Lately, I have begun to experience a subtle increase in the normal sideways "travel" or instability when hitting a grooved road surface. Nothing serious, just an unfamiliar "twitch" that didn't used to be there. It got me wondering if maybe tyre wear produces this effect? Even with 1 season old tyres? Link to comment
Ken H.
"1 season old" really has nothing to do with it. How many miles are on the tyres? How square blocked are they? Link to comment
TomS
Hmmm. Miles. About 5000 km. whatever that translates to. Not much, really. The threads look ok to me, even at the center of the tyre, but I can definitely spot some "flattening" where they have worn. The tyres are not as round as they were out of the shop. Tyre pressure is ok. Puzzling that the handling of the bike would change like that. Link to comment
ShovelStrokeEd
Not really puzzling, just a characteristic of some tires/bikes. Some are much more sensitive to rain grooves than others. It can be upseeting somewhat but it never gets to the point of danger. Bike just wiggles a bit, stay loose on the bars and don't try to compensate in any way and you'll be fine. Link to comment
