Dash light dimmer

Tried to adjust per the riders manual but nothing happened.

If I held right button too long the clock started to set.

What am I missing?? I even threw a black cat oner the bike.

Quick presses of the button should do it. A 5(?) stage progress bar at the bottom shows the current selection.

Must be dark enough that the light sensor turns on the dash lights. With ignition on or bike running press the right dash button to see the 5-bar brightness level. then press again to adjust intensity.
