flounder
i AM NOT SURE WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO DO, BUT WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND AGAINS RATCHETING DOWN ON THE SIDESTAND. i DID THIS ON MY OLD K100 LAST YEAR WHEN EVACUATING FOR HURRICNE RITA AND DEFINITELY BENT THE SIDESTAND. FOR TRAILERING THE RECOMMENDED METHOD IS WITH NO STAND AND JUST THE TWO TIRES, BIKE STANDING UPRIGHT. LIKE I SADI I DONT UNDERSTAND THE FERRY CROSSING ASPECT SO DONT KNOPW WHAT EXACTLY YOUR DSOING BUT DO KNOW IT IS POSSIBLE TO BEND A SIDESTAND. Link to comment
Davis
It would depend on the ferry. For short ferries across relatively calm water, I just sit the bike on the sidestand and don't tie it. For a crossing across rougher water, straps to the forks just above the fender and rear subframe after removing the black side covers, without either stand. Link to comment
