Ok, i do funeral escorts on my '02 1150RT-P and and looking for some new tires. Right now im running Z6 front and rear, however they seem to wear to fast and seem to cup quick than other tires, but the traction is great. Im looking to switch to another tire that offers similar performance but will last longer. Im looking at a couple of tires now, the Michelin Pilot Roads, or the Bridgestone BT020's. Anyone run any of these tires and have some comments, good or bad?

I just replaced a pair of Pilot Roads on my RT. I mounted ME880's by Metzler. Just got home from a 2200 mile trip to Sturgis, and I like the tires. Good ride and seem to stick very well. I'm expecting better mileage than I got with the Pilot Roads. Dave

You'll probably get slightly better mileage with the ME880s than the Pilot Roads. Subjectively and irrationally, I have more confidence in the Pilot Roads, though I've had no traction issues with ME880s.

My last two sets of tires have been BT020 and I had wear issues with them esp front cup etc. Switched to Avons and very very happy with them have clocked 4000 miles so far on them and are wearing very evenly and a lot slower than the BTs did. Also and more importantly find they have good traction as I travel rual roads to get to work with plenty of good corners to test out. Also find them super in wet which was not the case I found with the BTs. Have to say it will be Avons for me in future.

For me now it's ME 880 Radial(!) only. Wear good under high speed slabbing and moderately aggresive Deal's Gap/Cherohala riding. Got 15K on my last set. No problems with traction either. Only caveat is that I run the max tire pressure the marque suggest. I think it is 36 front, 41 rear.

I ran one set of the BT-020's and had bad cupping on the front and some unusual uneven wear on the rear. I had good experience with Pilot Roads and also the Avons I am currently running.

I vouch for the wet and dry handling of the Pilot Road. thumbsup.gif They handled so well that I drove the bike to it's limits last year in Newfoundland. They let me do things I could not have done with the stock set. At the end of each day, my testosterone limits would have shamed Landis' "natural" high. grin.gif

We've had 4 BT020's on Kathy's 1150RT and found them to be about a 6,000 mile tire with cupping on the front...Similar experience on friend's 1200RT, he may get 7,000 out of them...

My 1200RT has Pilot Roads on at 7,000 miles and looks like 2 to 3,000 left..

We'll replace with Pilot Roads on both our bikes....Noiser and maybe (just maybe) a little harder ride....I like the tires......
