RT_Jim
Put a new set of BMW spark plugs on my bike the other day (Bosch plugs). My nephew (who also rides and does a lot of wrenching) looked at them and noticed a coating on the top of the plugs (an insulating finish, he believes). He suggested we remove it to make the plug more efficient. Measuring the resistance on the top with the coating wasn't good but once we removed the coating, the resistance fell to 1.2 which is good (he says). I'd never heard of this - anyone else heard of this? Have I done damage to the plugs by removing the coating? (It wasn't easy to remove - took some steel wool to do it) Or will this increase my fuel efficiency to over 50mpg? Thanks! Jim Link to comment
Tony_K
The coating would come off upon use. It's for anti corrosion while being kept in stock. Link to comment
