Les is more
This post is here for you all to contribute your discoveries. What? Your favorite place to get great food on the road. How? By posting the name, address, simple directions, GPS coordinates (if you can), phone number, type of food, interesting tidbits, menu items that rate high on your list, pictures and anything else descriptive. Every so often, Denis Stager (stager, here on the board) will gather your posts, collate things by geographical region and the whole ongoing list will end up here. Your individual posts, having been gathered into one place will then be deleted. We will keep your name/handle with your suggestions. You all should be able to cut and paste from the area you're interested in into a text document so that you can print it out. Many thanks to Denis for the inspiration and the time he's giving to make this happen. BMWST ROADFOOD GUIDE ARKANSAS Oark General Store 215 Main Street Oark, Arkansas 72852 479-292-3351 www.oarkgeneralstore.com/ Great Ribeye steaks, Great Froglegs, unbelieveable hamburgers. Or about 16 twisty miles east of the Pig Trail, that's hwy 23 north out of the town of Ozark. Or about 75 twisty miles south of Eureka Springs. As I understand it, this is a pretty regular breakfast stop of the Arizona Rim Riders. We had the pleasure when we road with them on Sunday. The service was down home friendly and the breakfast was delicious--biscuits and gravy with real sausage gravy and some of the best eggs benedict I've tasted. The omelets looked great and the home fries were good too. They don't just serve breakfast and I hear that they cater too. There are tables that can be put together family style and theres a big picture window that looks out on the planes and the view beyond. The food is good, but it's everything else about Starved Rock Lodge that makes it a favorite riding destination. The Lodge is a 1930s vintage stone and log lodge located within Starved Rock State Park, a 2600 acre forest with 18 canyons, miles of hiking trails, and great views of the Illinois River Valley. This is one of the few areas in Illinois with good riding--the numerous back roads and the routes along the Illinois River are great fun, with some real twisties thrown into the mix. On most weekends, from Spring through Autumn, you'll find an abundance of motorcycles at Starved Rock. You can enjoy liquid refreshments and a sandwich menu outside on the terrace, or order from a full menu in the restaurant. The Café is on US 60, on the south side of the road. Very easy to find. Pies are all home made, change daily, and look pretty good. I had the Triple Berry pie, which was tart and very tasty. I was too full to have it a la mode, since I had a very good chicken salad sandwich. Prices are reasonable, and everything looked great. Pie Town does not have a gas station. I mistakenly thought that they did, and arrived with very little fuel. Fortunately, Mike, the owner of the café, is a rider, and keeps a few gallons of gas in his Hog Pen out back to sell to the occasional needy rider. If you're passing through the area, Pie Town Daily Pie Café is definitely worth the stop. Next time, I'll be sure to leave room for the ice cream. Couchrocket
The Outlaw Restaurant in Ouray, CO. If you're touring the Million Dollar Highway and environs, and stay over in Ouray, the Outlaw is very cool. Early West atmosphere, great piano in the bar / waiting area, good food and drink, some large round tables that will seat six or eight riders. Link to comment

ian408
I'll second the Egghead's recommendation. And add that if you drink a lot of coffee normally, you'll probably want to throttle back here...it's Thanksgiving Blend and pretty darn strong! Link to comment
NeverWashItJim
Augie And Ray's Drive In 314 Main St East Hartford, CT 06118 860-568-3770 Could be right out of American Graffiti, but, refreshingly, it wasn't opened recently as a "retro" joint -- it's simply been there forever and hasn't changed. Basic drive-in food: dogs, burgers, fries, onion rings, etc. For something different, give the fried clams a try. Unfortunately, they don't have girls on roller skates bring the food out to you -- you have to go in and get it yourself. Link to comment
