Phill
I have a 96 r1100rt with floating front brake discs. I find that the side with the ABS sensor ring has more play than other side. Just wanted to ask, 1. Do the 12 role pins wear on disc. As I am getting noticable rattle from Discs during urban rideing at slower speeds. 2. Has any one else had this problem and what did they do 3. Would the newer solid Discs that are fitted to r1150rt fitt my model. I am sure that the solid Discs would not rattle. The reason I ask this is, that my discs are in perfect condition and do not need replacing but I am worried that the disc or the mount may be worn at point where pins go through Link to comment
ShovelStrokeEd
Your bobbins are likely worn. They can be replaced. 34112330418 repair kit for attached parts $13.00 from the MaxBMW online parts fiche Link to comment
Ken H.
Which way is the play? If side to side, that is normal. If it is rotational relative to the wheel, then as Ed said, you probably need new bobbins. How many miles/km are on the bike? The 1150 rotor can not be fitted to the 1100. Something has to float. Om the 1100 it's the rotor, on the 1150 the caliper. Link to comment
Phill
play is both side to side and relative to direction of wheel. And there is 50,000. Just to add have been using ECB pads was very pleased on all fronts with them last time switched back to BMW and which produce alot of black dust as they all do but found ECB far better on that front Link to comment

The spring clips WILL wear a groove in the carrier (but not the stainless rotor) and allow the other 9 rollers to wear prematurely. Keep the rotor and carrier in the original relationship by marking it with a grease pencil or crayon before disassembly. I had no problems replacing the rollers with NO disassembly of the front wheel. Work your way around the rotor and replace one roller at a time. Every 4th roller is a spring-clip roller. You 'may' get away with just replacing the spring-clip rollers if the 'plain' rollers are not worn. 34-11-2-310-086 Quan 18 plain rollers " " " " 088 Quan 18 wave washers " " " " 089 Quan 6 in case you break some C-clips. keithb
Phil If you have 50K on the bike it is time to change the bobbins as you call them. I had to change mine on my 93 K1100RS at about 45k miles. Mine were rattling as well. I saw an article about it in BMW ON and realized that mine were worn out and needed replacing. It is quite easy to do yourself. The cost over here in the states at the time was about $120 for the parts. I do not know Moto Bins cost to you. Keith Link to comment

cruisin
I, too replaced mine recently and had a horrible time getting them from Chicago BMW. Took six weeks when they told me only two. I have had far better luck ordering prats from Hammersley BMW in Lynchburg, VA. Talk to Frank there he is extremely knowledgable and helpful. Link to comment

smiller
Thanks Mick. I couldn't find a picture or description of the item so I wasn't sure what it was... but I kind of knew that the price was too good to be true... Link to comment
