nmbeemer
I'm switching to Mobil 1 gear oil after a Redline Shockproof Heavy burping incident and I wanted to know what weight people preferred in the FD and why? Link to comment
outpost22
I can only tell you that I switched from Redline to Mobil 1 75W/140 this spring and shifting is now phenominal. Link to comment
nmbeemer
Are you talking about in the tranny or final drive? I was talking about the FD -- but if you mean the tranny did you use the 75/140 gear oil, not regular synthetic? Link to comment
JonathanE
FWIW, I use Heavy Shockproof in the transmission only, and Light Shockproof in the final drive. No burping from the bike, just the rider. Link to comment
Bart Anderson
Mobil 1 75/140 in both trans and FD, 'cuz that's the weight of the BMW synthetic stuff. Link to comment
madness522
I put the BMW synthetic 75/140 in at the 18k service. The guy at BMW of Chicago recommened it. It is a little smoother than the dino but I think I'll switch to the Mobil 1 synthetic next time. Link to comment
Gail
I've used Mobil 1 75/140 in both the transmission as well as in the final drive for the past 30,000 miles on my GS. Zero Problems Link to comment
