rear brake pad life on 12GS

my '05 1200GS just turned 21K miles old and the second set of rear pads is already gone. The first set was replaced by BMW parts at 11.5K miles. The pads were installed right, and there was no drag from what I could tell (rear wheels spins when idling in neutral on the center stand).

 

Is this normal for those bikes, considering that I hardley ever use the rear brake on it own ? my bike is the ABS model which activates the rear brake with the front, so that might have something to do with it, but 10K per set seems excessive for me.

 

Will I get better life out of aftermarket parts (EBC or DP) ?
