i need to top up my engine oil, what grade is best 10w/40 or 20w/50 or other

Any of the above. I usually use Castrol GPS semi-synthetic as that is what my dealer uses. I currently however, have Halfords 5W40 synthetic motorcycle oil in the sump. All modern oils will mix happily and the only important thing is to ensure they meet the minium specification in the handbook.
