Steve1962
Last night , I rode into the neighbouring county of Gloucestershire .......... not very far , as I live close to the border line .............. The Panzer waiting in the sun .......... Here , parked up on the road to Taynton .......... .and in the village of Great Barrington ............ a lovely little village ......... Riding out towards Icomb ................. A few hundred yards up the road , I find the perimeter of an airfield .......... The signs .............. The lane ............ like most of my journey tonight , devoid of traffic ....... Five miles down the road , I turn off and head for Bourton on the Water .......... and park up ......... Well known for it's waterway and bridges , Bourton is popluar with tourists , but quite quiet this evening , all the better for enjoying the scenery ........ The suns warm glow reflected in the arch of the bridge .......... GS country .......... More vista .......... Last photo in Bourton ......... Heading up a hill , and out towards Sherborne .......... I come across this lovely view ....... A horse on his way down to the pond ............ The countryside is gorgeous ........... Last village on tonights trip ...Sherborne ............ On the way out now , heading home ........... Just a mile down the lane , I rejion the main road for a quick blast back to Burford , before picking my way through the country lanes back home . Another corker of a ride !! Steve Link to comment
George
Nice one Steve, I see you are still enjoying the sun, thought you would park up with the rice rockets in the village centre, show 'em a real bike Link to comment
Steve1962
George, Thanks . I'd already parked up when they came by , revving their engines like mad and annoying the tourists by doing so . I was annoying the tourists by taking photos left , right and centre !! By the way , the offer of the top box stands if you need it . Steve Link to comment
Francois_Dumas
Nice piccies again Steve! Do you do 'requests'? I always used to lodge near the Iffley Locks..... that's a nice area for pictures too AND has some wonderful country lanes to get there from the south (I think it was). Link to comment

Albert
Excellent Steve! By the way, how does one find the "meaning" of the "official secrets act". Is that an oxymoron? Link to comment

Steve1962
Every time I see pics of yours, the bike is sooooooo clean! Man, the photos are great but its your willingness to wash that thing so often thats impressive! Shawn Shawn, The bike stays relatively clean because : The weather has been mostly kind to me this year . If I can , I give it a quick clean after each bike ride ............... little but often as they say . Plus.......... because it has large surface areas like the fairing and screen , it is easier to clean than some bikes - I used to have a GS ,and that was much more difficult to keep clean because of all the small areas [ many of which were exposed to the elements ] . A can of Plexus goes a long way !! Link to comment
philbytx
Darn, Takes me back that does....a fitting end to that ride would have been a couple of pints in the Sherborne Arms! Probably my favourite pub out there...two ex-London cabbies own it. Good grub....and they have great pies and desserts..Mmmmmmm! Of course, Deb would pick me up in the car and I would have left the bike with them until the next day Keep up the nostalgia...love it !!! Link to comment
Steve1962
Phil, Sherborne is a charming little village , some lovely scenery around there - next time Andy comes out riding with me , I'll take him there as well . Steve Link to comment
tio168
Well done Steve..great pictures i must say. Reminds me of my 5 years in the UK. Good ol' England. I can almost smell the fresh country air and hay....Why are there no security fence if the site is " secret " Tio Link to comment
Steve1962
I believe that although it is owned by the M.O.D. - , it is no longer in "active service " ............. I did see a sign for a gliding club , so I think they may rent the facility [ or part of it ] . Being a nosey parker , I did ride up to the entrance , which is now guarded by Security , and some of the land must have been sold off because there is now a Business park there. http://www.rissingtonbusinesspark.com/history.htm Steve Link to comment
