Rags
on their new Harleys. Now they don't have to aim 'n shoot (laser). Why is that good news? The V1 can pick up radar but not laser. Link to comment
R4ND0M_AX3
If your V1 cant pick up LIDAR then you need to send it in for an update. The V1 has had that ability for many many years now. Go here: http://www.valentine1.com/upgrades/ and enter the serial number of your V1 to see the difference in the new stuff. I'm sure the one the send you would even be thinner. Link to comment

The problem is even tho your upgrade can sense the laser, when you're hit you are nailed. I can't see the value. Now however they are using radar that throws a radius that can be picked up far enough away that you can slow down. Link to comment
smiller
Radar is certainly easier to detect than Lidar, but laser detection isn't useless. It does depend on your detector being triggered by sidescatter or by the LEO attempting to read your speed at too high a range, so whatever protection that might be available is far from reliable... but still better than nothing. Lidar detection has saved me from at least one speed award for sure, and possibly more. But yes, if you're nailed out of the blue then you're toast... but then again that is true of plain old instant-on radar as well. Link to comment
DavidEBSmith
Yah, I've had several incidents where I've have laser hits, slowed down, got hit again, and didn't get stopped. Your odds are worse with laser, but not 0%. Link to comment
