John Dickens
Anybody out there know or can measure the starting tread depth on a pair of Michelin Macadam 90X or 100X's? You would have thought by now I would have the presence of mind to measure these thing for myself but my life seems to be made up of 'Senior Moments' linked end to end. Link to comment
duckbubbles
John, you,ve still got 90's and 100's hanging around? They have got to be approaching 10 years old. No info on them, but a new Pilot Road rear measures at 6/32 in. or 4.7mm. Frank Link to comment
John Dickens
I don't know how old the stock is but my tyres were new last year. 100X's still haven't completely replaced 90X's in some dealers yet. http://two-wheels.michelin.com/2w/front/...903&lang=EN The 100X is still a current tyre on the Michelin website. Clive Liddell
John, Here are some figures from my records. I do not use Michelins any more having standardised on BT-54's for both bikes. R850R Front: 5mm, 4.5mm, 4.75mm and the last one 4.75mm Rear: 6.5mm and 6.5mm Hope that helps! Link to comment
jviss
For any tire I would expect 4 to 5mm front, 6 to 7mm rear for a new tire. (Quick calculation - 1mm is approx. 1.25/32". So, the above is about 5/32" front and 8/32" rear). "Worn out" would be 1/32" (according to Dunlop), or 0.8mm. Link to comment
John Dickens
Thanks very much to you all. In future I'll remember to measure the damn things before I drive on them. Link to comment
