No Ghosts In Virginia City

Last weekend we braved the ride across the Mojave Desert to visit Virginia City, NV. We made reservations at the fabled and supposedly haunted Silver Queen hotel hoping to see a ghost or two...

Unfortunately a two night stay and no hauntings...what a rip grin.gif

Got some cool pix though...

Such an odd mix with the desert in the foreground and the Sierras in the background

But it's one hell of a drive, whether by two or four wheels. I enjoy every minute I spend on that road.

How was the hotel?

I like Virginia City - I don't mind tourist traps. The museum in the old newspaper building was interesting - the wife bought Roughing It by Mark Twain which describes his time there. The train ride is fun too.

I've always enjoyed an afternoon ride up to Virgina City. Thanks for the pic's, I need to go back up there again.

Ever taken the time and ridden over to Bodie and walked around there? If not, is worth the detour off 395. So is the Whitney Portal out of Lone Pine.

The time I took that ride, I failed to take in a deep breath of air before we entered the tunnel. biggrin2.gif

Well that depends on what you want and are expecting.

The rooms are tiny...most of them anyway...there are no phones, TVs, wireless, cell phone service, etc, etc, and the furnishings are bare bones to say the least.

Also, people come and go throught the third floor fire escape...weird..

Having said all that ...I liked it!
