bmweerman
Last weekend we braved the ride across the Mojave Desert to visit Virginia City, NV. We made reservations at the fabled and supposedly haunted Silver Queen hotel hoping to see a ghost or two... Unfortunately a two night stay and no hauntings...what a rip Got some cool pix though... Highway 395 is one LOOOONNNNNGGGG Road Definately meet some interesting characters out in the desert This bird kept saying "Nevermore, Nevermore" go figure Such an odd mix with the desert in the foreground and the Sierras in the background Sunset over Mono Lake was amazing The Silver Queen at Dawn Touristy but pretty cool I'm going to stop now before this times out on me... and of course there's a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-MsgruOStU It was a fun Weekend Thanks Cameron and Patti Link to comment

Carnadero
Highway 395 is one LOOOONNNNNGGGG Road But it's one hell of a drive, whether by two or four wheels. I enjoy every minute I spend on that road. Link to comment

RonStewart
How was the hotel? I like Virginia City - I don't mind tourist traps. The museum in the old newspaper building was interesting - the wife bought Roughing It by Mark Twain which describes his time there. The train ride is fun too. Link to comment
JerryMather
I've always enjoyed an afternoon ride up to Virgina City. Thanks for the pic's, I need to go back up there again. Ever taken the time and ridden over to Bodie and walked around there? If not, is worth the detour off 395. So is the Whitney Portal out of Lone Pine. Bodie Whitney Portal Link to comment
Carnadero
The train ride is fun too. The time I took that ride, I failed to take in a deep breath of air before we entered the tunnel. Link to comment

Well that depends on what you want and are expecting. The rooms are tiny...most of them anyway...there are no phones, TVs, wireless, cell phone service, etc, etc, and the furnishings are bare bones to say the least. Also, people come and go throught the third floor fire escape...weird.. Having said all that ...I liked it! Just a few pix to illustrate... Link to comment
