R12ST
Just hit 2200 hundred and am wondering what to the with fifth and sixth gears. Haven't used sixth at all and rarely use fifth. I haven't been on any rides of distance - usually about a hundred miles a day. Just wondering if anybody else has the same experience. Forget got to say mine's red; maybe that explains. Jim VonBaden
I did notice on my GF's ST that I usually don't need 6th, as I do on my 12GS, but I used it on the freeway, and 5th as well, though never in town. You need to get out and ride a little. My GF has 1200 miles in a month. Jim Link to comment
wilsons
Yes, 3rd, and 4th gear rock my socks. I use 5th/6th on longer slab based trips though. Link to comment
duckbubbles
Check the spec charts, 5th and 6th gears are overdrives. Something like 5th- .9:1, 6th- .8:1. I use 5th and 6th all the time. The engine is really flexible in the range of it's power/torque. Frank Link to comment
