JMitchell Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Replacing a clutch cable in a friends K Bike RS100. Cable broke the other day. After removing I have a question regarding the kink in the cable. Any thoughts on what caused the kink or recommendation when reinstalling a new one. Thank you, John
Hosstage Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Bad routing that caused it to get pinched when the bars were turned? Any work done on it relatively immediately prior to it breaking?
JMitchell Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 The bike was recently purchased so the history is not completely know. The only work recently done was an issue with the right signal switch. I did the work and not much done other than at the turn signal switch. Will consider a different routing when installing the next cable. Thank you, John
duckbubbles Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Improper installation/routing. Normally, the cable has an almost straight shot from the steering head to the clutch actuating lever on the transmission. Was it the correct cable for the particular bike it was installed on? RT cable is longer than an RS. Frank
JMitchell Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 Great to hear you have 331,000 miles on your K100. Not sure if the faulty cable was OEM. We just ordered a cable from this company. https://www.ocdmachine.com/bmw-clutch-cable-k75-k75-cs-k100-k100rs.html JM
