Panhandle Chuck Posted January 6 Posted January 6 From Bob's wife: "Bob lost his battle with cancer October. We were diagnosed November of 2023 and chose the none treatment route. We went on living our normal lives as long as we could: swam, MotoGP, day rides, etc…July was the last ride he took as his declining health progressed rapidly. The weight loss was drastic and apparent. Soon his system rejected all medications and eventually food. We sold his bike in September and donated all his gears. Each of our daughters came and visited throughout the spring and summer. He finally allowed hospice help…and we lost him a week later. He went out bravely on his terms! We had 38 wonderful years together with no regrets. I spent the holidays with my sister and her family out in Southern California. In fact, I just returned from there tonight. Thanks for reaching out… sorry I don’t have better news." A few years after relocating to the Florida Panhandle, Bob Foley reached out and introduced me to a group of local riders and BMW Sport Touring (2008) after noticing we had the same bike (2007 F800ST) on AdvRider. We rode around the US for many years (Rick (ERDoc), Wyn (LUVBBQ), Dave (F16Viper68), Ron (RonM), Barry, Mike, and Harold. Life happens, and Bob moved out west. Our joint rides were limited; but we stayed in contact. I have no further information and will respect his decision to depart on his terms. Please post any pictures or memories of Bob Foley. 1
ERdok Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Bob and I rode many miles together - out west a few times, many Appalachian trips and Florida day rides. My first “ART” was with Bob, riding from NW Florida to Maggie Valley, NC (Blue Ridge Rendezvous) in the spring of 2008. Godspeed my friend.
Ron-M Posted January 7 Posted January 7 I'll always remember Bob riding a naked motorcycle and loving every minute of it. As an example, when riding to the Appalachian events, we would be riding on the interstate doing 80 MPH and I would marvel at Bob, who was always right there keeping up with the group on his naked Triumph speed triple. Because he did not have a whole lot of room for luggage, he would spend the whole time on those trips in his motorcycle apparel, and always drinking his warm water with lemon with his glasses sitting on the lower portion of his nose during meals.
TEWKS Posted Thursday at 09:42 PM Posted Thursday at 09:42 PM I’m not sure if I met Bob at one of the STARTS I attended. May have said hello but there are a bunch of names and faces you have to try and connect rather quickly. Sorry to hear of his passing, condolences to his friends and family.
