Full-Sized Left Case on 1150R

Just looking for confirmation because the few threads I'm seeing from 15+ years ago have missing information.

I have a Rockster. My father has two sets of factory cases for his R1100S. Just wondering if there's any possible way to retrofit the left case to fit my bike. I plan on removing the muffler regardless (at some point over the winter, I'll have most of the bike apart) but the high mount for the case that comes off the bracket for the passenger foot peg appears to sit roughly two inches too far to the left to fit. I have yet to remove the muffler and check - this is just a visual conclusion.

Any insight that could help me?

I saved this little ditty when I was looking for sides cases for my '99 R1100S years ago, but I'm afraid it's not very encouraging:

Fair enough. Thanks.

I have a few ideas that I'm going to try over the weekend and update afterwards. One involves adjusting the mounting point on the bike. If that fails, I'm modifying the case. Either way, it should work.

For anyone who cares, here's the retrofit. Attached a new mounting point to the case so it lines up with what's on the bike. Obviously involves removing the muffler but as most know, it's still quiet. The tip is just a stopgap - I will have a similar stainless piece made over the winter. I just wanted to do a test run to see how everything worked before I park it and it works flawlessly.

You ride it with NO muffler??

That is correct.

I think you'd be surprised by how quiet it is. My setup breezes through MOT's overseas still. The enormous cat underneath muffles plenty.
