MarkD Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 I' am installing a FuzeBlock under the rear seat of my 2016RT and I'm trying to find a location to pick up a switched 12v supply for the FuzeBlock. I searched around the forums and found a thread that showed a switched 12v source on the left rear of the bike. I found two sets of wires there. One goes to the tail/brake light and the other goes to the rear auxiliary socket. The auxiliary socket has a connector with brown and red wires coming into it. When I put a voltmeter on the red, and on ground I see that 12v is supplied when the ignition is turned on. When the ignition is turned off the red wire still has 12v for another 60 seconds before if shuts off. So, my question is, is that red wire to the auxiliary socket and good place for me to pick up switched 12v? And is so, is the power staying active for 60 seconds after ignition is off an issue for this situation? Thanks!
strataj Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 I used one of the two fused wires under the drivers seat up close to the gas tank as my switch wire. The CAN bus stays active for about 45 plus seconds like you found on the wire to the accessory plug.
ColoradoGreek Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 On my 2016 RT I used the red wire with green strip that is located under the drivers seat as mentioned by strataj. As strataj also mentioned the circuit does stay live for approx. 45 seconds after the ignition is turned off. I have attached a photo (taken from the right side of the bike) of the wire connection. I used a blue posi-tap connector and ran the wire to the Fuzeblock that is located under the pillion seat. Hope this helps.
MarkD Posted June 2, 2024 Author Posted June 2, 2024 Thanks for the information. I assume that the circuit staying live for approx. 45 seconds after the ignition is turned off doesn't affect anything. While poking around with the voltmeter I did find a gray wire with a red tracer and repeating yellow dots (I think it's the license plate circuit) that turns off a few seconds after ignition is turned off.
MarkD Posted June 5, 2024 Author Posted June 5, 2024 Thanks for all your help. FuzeBlock install complete.
