G'Day Folks;

My first posting here, I bought a R1150 Rockster a few weeks ago. After over 60 years of riding this is my first BMW and I am on the search for parts. I need a RH side case latch assembly P/N 46542307620, AKA the multipurpose box. Key not required.

I am in Ontario, Canada.

Best Regards;

Ha!!

I think I may have what you need, Mike!!

I don't see any numbers on it.  It was in a side case full of parts and pieces I got with a bike ('99 R1100RT) several years back.  It seems to function properly but there are a bunch of rivets you would need to remove somehow.  It looks like it was removed from the side case it was in and it is a RH side case.  Please check the photos carefully to make sure!!

You must be familiar with the lockset and the removal/replacement of it.  It's easier to replace one.

It seems to operate OK.  Has the usual old grease, dust, grit, etc.  Should clean up OK.  I've found that WD40 Dry Lube works very well on these mechanisms.  "Better than new."

Let me know what you think.

Hey, Mike,

I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about this latch and wondered why the latch pictured above looks different from the parts fiche pic.  So, I went back to the case and dug around and found more parts wrapped up in bubble wrap.  Looks like I have two sets of this latch assembly complete with the black plastic box tops and bottoms:

This other latch assy looks newer and cleaner but is not in as good condition as the first assy.  There are several broken parts and a repair with a tiny hose clamp and black epoxy!!  NOT my doings!!

And, broken orange tab on the lock (a very common problem on these latches) and missing/broken case release handle:

The four black plastic latch cover parts look OK, one set is in better condition (fewer scratches) than the other.

I think these covers complete the "multipurpose box".

Your thoughts??
