Pannier clasp broke 🤔

So I was putting on my left side pannier and the clasp broke right off.  Shown below is the intact clasp from the RHS pannier.  The left pannier is zip-tie secured to the bike and a PIA to take off.  So imagine the photo below with the clasp snapped off clean just about flush with the platic surface of the pannier.   Any thoughts about how to fix? Or if possible?  I can send more pics if necessary.

thanks, steven20240506_173433.thumb.jpg.d65bfa1a7eba2080a7dc9913cac762d8.jpg

Afternoon Steve

That clasp is part of the entire MULTI-PURPOSE BOX (latch box),  about $200.00  from BMW IF they can still get it.

Your choices are:

Try to make a new piece from bent aluminum then disassemble (remove) the entire latch box then try to get it to fit & work (in most cases if you can do that you probably wouldn't be here asking for help)

Or, try to buy a new latch box assembly from BMW then install it (lots or pop rivets to drill out then reinstall)   this .PDF from the parts book sort of shows what is required.          https://shop.maxbmw.com/fiche/NotesParts/46542307620_1.pdf

Or, buy a used side case from E-Bay then swap the MULTI-PURPOSE BOX (latch box) into your case.

Or, just buy a used side case from E-Bay & use that.

This situation is giving zip ties.

You don't think this is it?Screenshot(1).thumb.png.f93b05307553fe64af7ffdffe17d2831.png

No, those parts are not for the latch.

You need the "L" shaped tongue thingy shown in picture below. That part only comes as part of the 46542307620  MULTI-PURPOSE BOX.

I broke mine off as well and disassembled the mechanism from the pannier. No joy in finding a BMW replacement. I subsequently bought a pannier and changed out the lock slugs. You could buy a beat up bag with a good mechanism and pop rivet it back in place of the old one.

Morning Steve

It's a little cheaper but at $130.94 US dollars  plus  $62.00 US dollars for shipping not that big of a savings for the possible headaches of dealing overseas.

You might try Max BMW, they show $201.00 in the cart & sometimes they offer free shipping. Or try

Cross Country Cycle, they show $205.00 with free shipping.

My guess is neither place stocks it, so IF (kind of a big IF) they can still get that part then it will probably be close to a month or more (IF) they can still get it.

Euronetbike shows "at the maker (manufacturer)" so you have that wait plus the shipping wait to you.

Motorworks.uk has them I think part was $115 Euro, about $120 US plus shipping
