FD 1200GS 2014

As I was putting new tyres on the bike I decided to grease my FD, I used the below YT for guidance.  My FD looks shit and is not dropping off, see photo.  Should I bolt back together and forget as it's not part of any BMW service schedule or should I continue?  If I do continue how do I get it off??

Also while trying to pull the final drive off a rubber fitment hit the floor, any idea where it comes from?

There is a service campaign regarding this issue in the USA. Given the condition of your drive shaft, it would be replaced over here. Might want to check with a dealer to see if BMW might address the issue.

After looking at some more YT I decided to 'rotate the housing' a bit harder and it came off. Tided up the splines lubed with loads and she's running fine. I will raise the rust with the dealer though.

I would like to resurrect this thread for a follow up question.

Should I do the gearbox end or, as it's not in any maintenance schedule, leave it alone?
