greengary
Need to replace the rear shock on my 1999 R1100RT. Has 75K miles. What do you suggest? Thanks. Link to comment
BABABeemer
I would check with Beemer Boneyard for a good used Shock. Link to comment
9Mary7
If you're planning on another 75k, https://www.beemershop.com/category/suspension-products-178.html They have the most options re: cost/features. 1 Link to comment
Lowndes
I agree with 9Mary7. Talk to Ted Porter there. I've purchased two sets of shocks fo my '99 and '00 BMW's and have not been disappointed. Ted will ask a bunch of questions about the bike, your riding style, weight, cargo, the roads you travel, and will talk suspension as long as you want. He is busy, you may get a call back at 9 PM Saturday night (they are 3 hours behind East Coast time) but he will call you back. He had 5 different brands to choose from and did not recomment the most expensive. Also, don't neglect the front unit (unless you've already done that one). It's really a SAFETY issue as much as comfort and handling. Before I got these units if a bike had some springs I was good to go. The difference was transformative, for me and the bike. Kinda like coffee, beer, wine, and bourbon; once you've tried the good stuff it's hard to go back. 1 Link to comment
Brodiepunker18
I personally went with progressive shocks. I did mine last summer both front and rear. Link to comment
