Need "Streets and Trips" tip

How can I set specific locations as my end-of-day waypoints? At the moment, I have a time period set, which coincidentally worked out the first night, but I can't figure out how to change it to a destination, regardless of the drive time. Help?

boy, I'd love to know that too! I mess around with the end driving time, or the automatic rest stop timing to force it to happen. Not the best way at all, but S&T doesn't seem too friendly for real life travel.

 

-edit: I just saw that there is an option to schedule a stop at a particular point in your route list. But that isn't quite what you were asking for.

I don't know about Streets and Tips, but for Mappoint, which should be similar, try use the properties of the waypoint and then schedule stop. You might be able to set to spend xx nights. Might work. Give it a try.

Open your "route" go to "route planner"(the little car)

Ot should show "start" "stops" "end"

Where your route stopped, if it is near or in the town you want click on that town, right click - add as stop.

Next to the stops on the "route planner" there is a clock

click on that, it will say "hours - days " click "days"

-over night. That will start you the next morning.

Also you can select you starting time with the clock.

To add stops, click on the town and add it as a stop and use the clock.

I think that I need to either plot each day as a separate file, or stretch the day into 12 hour periods and then schedule a 12 hour stop as you suggest.

This is a great tip and one I'm sure to use.

(Now is there something similar in MapSource for the Garmin GPS?)

I have used Streets and Trips for years and It is easy for me. MapSource is hard.

Both do the same thing but there is no clock on mapSource (I don't think ?)

On both S&T and MS when you click on a town for a stop it takes you to the City Hall but if you are using your MS in a Garmin then your navigation wants to take you to the City Hall.

I wish I could import the S&T into the MS.

You can. I too hate Mapsource for trip planning and prefer Streets&Trips.

 

Follow this tutorial for using ST2GPX to convert S&T to GPX. Then open mapsource and use the File-Open dialog to import the GPX file as a route.

Thanks for that tip. I'll have to try it; I'm assuming it will work with a 2610 as well as the Quest. If you know differently, let me know and save me the trouble.
